But overall what I'm trying to say, and that is from my realization these days, is all about me, about my recent obstacles (may have existed for a long period of time) met during learning the English language.... Until recently, I thought in learning a language, especially a foreign language as a non-native speaker, that to speak actively by yourself is not important--as long as you keep working hard on the process of reading, the other components for mastering a language, namely to write, to speak, to listen will fall in line automatically. And for the past within 5 years, it did seem to be true-- I just kept the habit of browsing through online pages in English while never stopping for patiently letting all those pieces sink in my head into a whole jigzaw puzzle, and my listening seemed to gradually get better.... But suddenly, today, when I really have a thought of composing an essay, which would be expected to smack of certain literary value, I find myself almost totally deprived of that ability.... As ill luck would have it, my listening, not to mention the speaking, seems to have made no way of progress....That makes me feel more and more frustrated I don't know exactly what's going on. Maybe it's just I haven't practiced for some time, or it's just I'm in the middle of a transformation--I'm going to have my words, my sentences "make more sense" Finally, I make a comparison from personal experience: I'm a Mandarin native-speaker, and a Taiwanese native-speaker--Why had I never had difficulties in using my native languages? When I hear people talking in my native language, I don't have to try to carefully make out each vocabulary as I do in the case of a foreign language such as the English. I just know how to spontaneously, naturally make a response! What's going on? Where's the difference? I start to fall into deep thought.... Maybe the point is a native speaker has habitually reacted in his own language...I mean for example, a person from the day he is born, he imitates the sounds of what he hears, and he has the motive of being heard..... So now, I'm going to learn, and really try to speak, loudly alone, in imitation of the dialogue in the video films, which is different from my past experience when I just listened to it and cared not at all of if I could speak for myself in that "native" way... In order to naturally speak like a native-speaker, to write like a native-speaker, one has to first imitate I'm feeling a bit of awkward of my words.....don't know how to express more accurately....maybe I think just let it stop here... --
