I know what you're talking about, and sometimes i feel that way too. i can tell you though that this has a lot to do with the level of your english skills. For example, i read a book, Girl With A Pearl Earring, when i had only learned english for 2 years. Even though i understood what the book was about, the book didn't made much of an impression on me. But then when i re-read the same book again during this summer(for school essay), i found that i understood the book better and was more into it than before. So i think the reason why you couldn't feel anything is that you're probably trying to translate english into chinese as you read along in order to process the information, which sort of makes the language lose its flavor. however, i do agree with you that english seems to be a bit of an..... unexpressive language sometimes. well, to me at least. i often have times when i'm unable to express my feelings in eng because i can't find the right word/phrase, but i've never had this problem with chinese before. --
