These principles were set out in a document written in 1930 (and quoted
in Flavin 1996: 15 - 17).
1. Give the children opportunities for self-discovery.
讓孩子有自己探索的機會。
2. Make the children meet with triumph and defeat.
讓孩子碰上勝利與挫敗。
3. Give the children the opportunity of self-effacement in the common
cause.
讓孩子在日常生活中有自我謙遜的機會。
4. Provide periods of silence
給予沈靜的時刻。
5. Train the imagination.
鍛鍊想像力。
6. Make games important but not predominant.
讓比賽重要但並不被其支配。
7. Free the sons of the wealthy and powerful from the enervating sense of
privilege.
將富饒有力的孩子們從無力感的特權中釋放。
