LUQUE DECISIVE AGAIN Another great striker of Luque kept Deportivo alive in the current edition of the Champions League. His goals against Rosenborg, PSV Eindhoven, Juventus and now Milan have made of him an European recognized player and for sure a club like Barcelona will renew their interest in his services. Spanish sportspaper AS claims that on Tuesday Sandro Rossel of Barcelona will have a meeting with Manel Ferrer, the agent of Luque, to discuss a possible strategy to bring Luque to the Nou Camp. But Luque just wants to celebrate the history victory against Milan and to dream about winning the Champions League. Q: Has this match been your biggest one as a professional player? A: Well, I was present at the World Cup 2002 and that was great too. But I have participated more during this Champions League edition and that has been more satisfying. Q: How did the team experience this match? A: We started it with much illusion and were looking forward to the kick-off to give all we had. But we knew how difficult things would be against the current European champions, and even more with the 4-1 score from the first leg. Nevertheless, I think the team deserves a ten. Q: When did the players start to realize that a miracle was possible? A: The key was the early goal of Pandiani because when the first goal isn’t made for sure the morale will go down. But this goal gave us the strength to fight even more. Q: And the second goal out of your pass? A: After this one we saw that the target was even more near. I noticed that several of our players were in the box, but with more options at the second post. That’s why I hit it hard. The rest was done by Valeron. Q: And the third was a great goal. A: Our target is more near now, but we’re relaxed about it. I repeat that the team deserves a ten because of the way we eliminated a team with such a high level. We can beat any opponent and that has given us much confidence. Q: And the Liga? A: That’s another story because it’s much more difficult now to win it. Club number five is far away and it doesn’t matter finishing third or fourth. Our focus is now on the Champions League and the Liga is our second option. Q: Is this match an end to you bad form? A: I hope so as I really wanted to play a good match. And it was a great moment to do it. Q: Did your lack of form had to do with the interest of Barcelona? A: No, it had nothing to do with that. It was because of certain circumstances which combined. For example, I am an explosive player and at a certain point in the season the effort goes down. All players have good and bad periods.
