LUQUE AND VALERON SUMMONED BY INAKI SAEZ, TRISTAN LEFT OUT AGAIN Five players from both Real Madrid and Valencia are starring in the squad summoned by Inaki Saez to face Denmark on Wednesday in Gijon, while Deportivo and Barcelona provided two each. The squad will probably focus on the offensive play, with no less than six strikers among the nineteen players - Torres, Etxeberria, Luque, Raul, Morientes and Salva. Luque and Valeron have been in the squad for some time, and it seems that their seats at the European Championship are assured. Even more since both of them have good chances of making it into the starting eleven. Luque has shown a good form this season, scoring goals and providing assists on a regular basis, and he is an ambivalent player being able to star as a striker or as an offensive left winger. He has already played on four occasions for the Spanish national team, last time against Peru in Barcelona (2 - 1) on the 18th of February. His chances are only dimmed by the excellent Vicente, who has also had a very good season with Valencia, playing in much the same way as Luque. Valeron is also a regular in Inaki Saez' plans, with 37 caps for the national team, in which he scored three goals. He is the best alternative for the center midfield position, providing the strikers with passes, and only his lack of physical strength could keep him from becooming a starter. His place seems safe nevertheless, as there he is clearly the most creative player in the Spanish team. Diego Tristan has again been left out, but it is understandable after scoring only six goals in the Liga as striker, and after facing the competition of in-form strikers like Torres, Morientes or Salva. Unfotunately, there is little hope for him to get a ticket for Portugal.
