President Lendoiro of Deportivo still is more busy with a possible sale of Roy
Makaay, but he doesn’t like to be pressured as Bayern Munich intend to do. In
fact, nor the season starting this Sunday for Deportivo with the first training
session nor his son’s marriage this Saturday make him hurry and thereby worsen
his negotiating position.

It’s rumoured that the Andalucian striker has had talks with the president of
Betis, Manuel Ruiz de Lopera. Sources from Betis said that Tristan had a
meeting with Ruiz de Lopera last Saturday in the city of Chipiona. The same
sources indicate that Tristan could return to the club where he was formed.

It’s assumed that Betis have offered 6 million Euro for the striker + the
transfer of Spanish international defender Juanito. Irureta is in favour of
signing the defender, and thereby the defensive line of Deportivo could be done
for next season.

But a transfer isn’t approved by Betis trainer Victor Fernandez, as it could
cause a conflict very similar to the one that Betis have with their star player
Joaquin. The reaction of Joaquin is feared because the actual salary of Tristan
at Deportivo is very superior to the offer from Betis to Joaquin in the search
of a contract renewal.

Last week Betis vice-president Angel Martin met Lendoiro in Madrid to discuss a
transfer.
It seems that Deportivo asked about 14 million Euro plus the transfer
of Juanito in exchange for Tristan. Meanwhile Betis think about the option of
getting Giovanni Elber from Bayern Munich if eventually Makaay makes a transfer
to Germany.
