Slugger has been recovering from recent illness DETROIT -- Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez left Wednesday afternoon's loss to the Royals after four innings with dizziness. Ordonez has been dealing with the effects of diverticulitis for the past two weeks, including general weakness and an upset stomach that forced him to miss the final three games of Spring Training. It's not believed that his light-headedness is tied to that. Instead, it could be related to an illness that has been spreading among family members lately. "This is unrelated [to diverticulitis]," Trammell said, "but I think his body's a little worn down. Whether or not he plays [Thursday], we'll have to wait and see." Though Ordonez was believed to be questionable for Monday's season opener, he declared Sunday that he was ready to play. Ordonez played all nine innings, going 0-for-4 with a walk and a run scored while looking relatively healthy. An 11-hit outburst from the Royals in the first four innings Wednesday gave Ordonez a workout. Royals hitters slapped two singles to right, a double to right-center and a Mark Teahen triple in the fourth inning that sent Ordonez running into the right-field corner. Bobby Higginson replaced Ordonez in right field an inning later. In other situations, an early exit like that would lead Trammell to give the player the next day off as a precaution. In this case, however, Trammell wants to wait and see how Ordonez feels Thursday morning. --
