A number of teams have been connected to Byrd, including the Braves. Byrd had expressed interest in returning to the Rangers, but he wanted a multi-year deal. The terms of his possible Cubs deal aren't known yet, but a three-year commitment is significant. He'll earn $5.5MM in 2011 and $6.5MM in 2012. ESPNChicago's Bruce Levine reports that the deal "is believed to be" backloaded. Levine reports that Byrd took a physical in Chicago yesterday.
