His fastball runs in the mid- to high-90s, and when it comes in above thigh-high few can get on top of it. His curve is a hard downer. His slider may be his best pitch of all; it has good downward tilt and better velocity than many pitchers' fastballs. Wood's only remaining weakness is a tendency to occasionally get out of sync and lose the strike zone for or an inning or two. Since he's so tough to hit, he's always prone to go deep into counts, even when he's on.
