He was named Texas League Manager of the Year following a regular season in which the Drillers took the first half title in the East Division with a 39-30 record. The Drillers finished the season with a 72-67 overall record. Tim is currently manager for the organization instructional league team in Surprise, Arizona. Tim joined the Rangers for his first year in 2002 as manager at Tulsa. This was his second stint in the Texas League and first with Tulsa, after having managed the El Paso club from 1993-95. Tim piloted the El Paso club to the league championship series in two of three seasons, winning the league title in 1994. Ireland was named by Baseball America as the 1994 Minor League Manager of the Year for his efforts. He was manager of the Sonoma County Crushers of the independent Western League in 2001 after spending the previous two seasons as an international scout in Asia for the Colorado Rockies. Tim managed Milwaukee Brewers farm teams from 1992-97 after opening his career in 1989 with independent Salinas. In 1998, he piloted Taipei Gida of the Taiwan Major League to the championship after finishing third in the regular season standings. Tim enjoyed a 12-year playing career that included 11 games with the Kansas City Royals in 1981-82. He was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 25th round of the 1973 June draft out of Chabot College in Hayward, CA, playing eight seasons in the minors before seeing big league action. After being released by Kansas City following the 1982 season, he played two years with the Hiroshima Braves of Japanese Professional Baseball, batting .275 in 204 games. Tim旧 playing career ended in 1985 after seeing action in 49 games with Miami of the Florida State League. Entering the 2002 season, Tim held a 231-175 Texas League record over three seasons in the circuit. --
