Aguilera’s self-titled debut album sold 8,328 copies to debut at number 21 in October 1999, and peaked 18 weeks later at number 14. on sales of 9,609 and has sold 364,414 copies to date. Second album Stripped debuted at number 19 on sales of 17,963, and peaked 18 weeks later at number two, selling 48,921 that week on its way to a stellar to date sale of 1,818,939. It was prevented from reaching number one by Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me.
