An oxygen ionic conductor ( ti = 1) is used as an electrochemical pump to
control the oxygen pressure within a closed chamber, which is initially filled
with air at 1 atmosphere total pressure. The external atmosphere is air. At
600℃, what voltage must be maintained to keep the oxygen partial pressure
within the chamber at 1.5 atm? To hold it at 10-6 atm? Indicate the sign of the
applied voltage in each case.
