Alternating between left-back and a more attacking role on the wing over the course of the season, Maatsen was a key player for the Sky Blues as they made an early challenge for a play-off spot before finishing in mid-table. https://i.imgur.com/WpCWH3h.jpg Maatsen scored three goals in the Championship last season with Coventry It was the Dutch youngster's second season in senior football, following a loan with League One side Charlton Athletic the previous year, where he played 35 games as the Addicks narrowly missed out on the play-offs, again showing his versatility by featuring in various positions from midfield to right-wing, as well as his natural left-back role. It was in that position Maatsen thrived during two years playing in the Chelsea Academy after joining from PSV Eindhoven in his native Netherlands in the summer of 2018, catching the eye both with his attacking intent and defensive solidity.
