Armando Broja hit a brace either side of a Xavier Simons goal to see the Blues five goals up at half time. Tottenham attempted a rescue mission and got on the scoresheet after an hour's play. Their second was a goal worthy of it's applause as Tarelle Whittaker got his brace by striking into the top corner from distance for Spurs' second. The third came from 12-yards when substitute Harvey White coverted from the spot - but ultimately the damange was inflicted in the opening half where Chelsea notched five and sealed the points. Chelsea got off to the best possible start, Haigh winning a penalty in the opening 20 seconds allowed Bate to slot home and put the Blues in an early lead. Broja went close inside the first 10 minutes of action but couldn't quite find the target with two close range efforts - The Blues looked ruthless and hungry for more goals. https://i.imgur.com/7M7D2Bm.jpg Bate dispatches from the spot after two minutes Our second came six minutes later - the combination of Haigh and Bate proved fruitful again as the former headed home from the central midfielder's wide free-kick. 2-0 Blues after just 16 minutes of action. Broja continued working hard as the front man and got his goal midway through the first half. Simons' low centre was palmed clear by the Spurs 'keeper but the Albania youth international was on hand to power home the rebound from two yards out. Broja was in the right place at the right time to give the Blues a three-goal lead. https://i.imgur.com/HuExoo0.jpg Haigh heads the Blues into a two-goal lead There was no let up for the hosts however, captain Dynel Simeu turned provider for the hard-working Simons to scramble the ball over the line from close range. 4-0 Chelsea. Tottenham's first attempt on goal came shortly after, midfielder Rafferty Pedder rushed his effort when a cross came in from the right – Jake Askew watched the ball safely over his net. It got even better for Chelsea four minutes before the interval and Haigh was involved again. Broja latched on to his through ball leaving the defender in his trail before coolly slotting into the net for our fifth of the morning. After a dominant half of football Chelsea were five goals to the good. https://i.imgur.com/DWticcG.jpg Broja's second of the morning makes it five for Chelsea Sam McClelland looked to get in on the scoring act shortly after the restart, but Spurs managed to clear the attempt off the line and away from danger. The game settled down as we looked to defend net but Askew wasn't able to keep a clean sheet however - Whittaker got a foot to a cross which took the ball into the net after 60 minutes of action. The early goal seemed to spark some confidence into the Spurs team who looked a much better side – Whittaker doubled his tally in stunning fashion striking on target using the underside of the woodwork as help. It was 5-2 with 10 minutes to go. Tottenham found a third when the referee pointed to the spot following Harvey Vale's challenge, Chelsea protested but the officials decision was final. Harvey White dispatched from 12 yards, Askew's hand wasn't strong enough to divert the ball away from goal. The penalty was the last bit of action as the end of time was signalled, Chelsea's strong first half was enough to collect the points despite a late showing from Tottenham. The U18s are next in action after the international break when they take on Arsenal in the PL Cup. Following victory, Brand found it hard to criticise the young Blues' first-half performance, with all five Chelsea goals coming before the break, although he admitted his team lacked the same intensity following the interval. 'The scoreline is a funny one in terms of how the game panned out', he told the official Chelsea website afterwards. 'In the first half, I thought we were fantastic and it was the best football we've played all season. The only criticism I had at half-time was that we were only five goals up. We were excellent, we created numerous opportunities and the boys followed the game plan really well. 'Every time we went forward, we looked a threat and out of possession our intensity was good, we were winning the ball back high and we were first to the second ball every time. I couldn't fault them. 'The second half followed a similar pattern in terms of us having more of the ball, being dominant and largely in Spurs' half but understandably we lacked that little bit of intensity which we had in the first half.' With it not being the second half Chelsea would have hoped for, Brand understands why his team weren't as pleased with the result as they could have been but believes the performance was a reward of the hard work put in on the training pitch prior to the fixture. 'You don't come to Spurs and expect to be five goals up at half-time, that's why I was so pleased and encouraged by the performance,' he continued. 'That showing was many weeks in the making in terms of what we are trying to do and the style of play we want to implement so it's all credit to the boys because they take on board the information and they are the ones who have to go and play. 'I said to the team that they could come in and be a little bit dejected and flat because the scoreline doesn't mirror the dominance.' The Blues are one of three teams yet to taste defeat in the league and Brand credits the Under-18s age group as a whole for their efforts thus far and hopes to continue the near-perfect start after the international break. 'We are getting towards the middle of November and haven't lost in the league or cup and have only drawn once,' he added. 'It's a terrific achievement and the credit deserves to go to the boys in the dressing room but not just the lads here today, the whole group. 'It is only the middle of November so these records are nice but they ultimately mean nothing if you don't follow it through. We've got some tough games coming up we need to make sure we are good in those.' == Fixture update == Our Under-19 UEFA Youth League game versus LOSC Lille on Tuesday 10 December will now kick off at 1pm local time and be broadcast live on BT Sport from our Cobham training ground.
