The 22-year-old midfielder has been an important member of the Doncaster side this season, making a total of 20 appearances and catching the eye with a string of impressive displays. Houghton returned to Doncaster in August having spent the first part of last season with the Yorkshire club, before his season was ended by a knee injury in February.
