U18南區聯賽第七輪 https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/10/ under-18s-report--leicester-2-chelsea-3.html Under-18s report: Leicester 2 Chelsea 3 Sat 14 Oct 2017 Our youth team's 100 per cent start to the league season continued on Saturday afternoon in the East Midlands with a late winner from substitute Tushaun Tyreece-Walters completing a hard-won victory. The young Blues conceded first but recovered to equalise through Charlie Brown and then take the lead early in the second half thanks to a Martell Taylor-Crossdale goal. Leicester were dangerous from set-pieces however and equalised from a corner, only for Chelsea to respond rapidly again to secure a seventh victory from seven league matches. There were two changes from the side which did so well at home to Fulham last weekend. Juan Castillo had recovered from a knock so came in at wing-back and Charlie Brown was added to the attack. Several regulars remain away with England at the Under-17 World Cup. Leicester took the lead in this game in the 12th minute from a free-kick. They had started the game pretty strongly and Tariq Lamptey was alert to an early Foxes free-kick routine and intervened with a good tackle. Marcin Bulka in the Chelsea goal made the first save from Kanya Leshabela. But then another free-kick was conceded on the edge of our area and it was played to the far post to centre-back George Heaven. He headed back across goal and in for a 1-0 lead for the home side. There was aerial danger again from a corner soon after but this time Chelsea survived. Indeed we did even better than that and immediately equalised. Taylor-Crossdale flicked on a clearance upfield and Brown scored with a sumptuous lob on the run over the goalkeeper. Jody Morris's men had been behind for just three minutes. At the other end, Bulka was briefly hurried into palming the ball out of his goalmouth after it had been caught by the blustery wind but by now Chelsea were ascendant. Jack Wakely, today's captain, headed a corner just wide of the Foxes goal. The team was regularly feeding Lamptey on the right and Castillo could have grabbed the lead from his opposite wing-back's cross but volleyed high and wide of the target. It then took a sliding block to prevent Tariq Uwakwe from grabbing the lead before half-time after he skilfully tricked his way through a couple of challenges. Chelsea's start to the second half was superb. Possession was monopolised all over the pitch until Castillo crossed the ball onto the head of Taylor-Crossdale who gave the keeper no chance. With the game 47 minutes old, we had the lead for the first time. Chances came for more goals. Castillo had a shot saved and Taylor-Crossdale saw his goal-bound header headed off the line. Bulka had to make a save too, down at the foot of the post. The best opportunity of all during this mid period the second half fell to Uwakwe after a hashed Leicester clearance but he skied his effort at goal. The Leicester set-piece threat remained however and their equaliser to make it 2-2 came with eight minutes left to play. Again the young Blues were undone by a back-post header. A corner was delivered deep and the towering Lukas Husek, the tallest player on the pitch, headed down. Bulka got a hand to the ball but could not keep it out. The Chelsea winner came just four minutes later and with four minutes left on the clock. A long ball out from our defence was challenged for by the Leicester defence and by Brown but bounced through into the path of Tyreece-Walters who was the only the Chelsea substitute introduced to the game. He kept his cool when one-on-one with the keeper to score his first goal at this level. Given the pattern of the game, there must have been some Chelsea nerves when faced with another Leicester free-kick in our half but that was knocked straight out of play. Taylor-Crossdale nearly increased the advantage in stoppage time but his effort was tipped over the bar. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/10/ under-18s-reaction--setting-up-the-season.html Under-18s reaction: Setting up the season Sun 15 Oct 2017 Under-18s manager Jody Morris felt his players overcame their stiffest challenge of the season so far on Saturday afternoon to maintain their 100 per cent start to their defence of the league title. A 3-2 win at Leicester City's training ground gave them their seventh straight league victory of the campaign, with a draw away at Blackburn in the new U18 Premier League Cup the only game they have not won. At Leicester it needed resilience to overcome the home side's set-piece strength with the young Blues going behind early on and then needing to deep dig for a late winner having conceded an equaliser inside the last 10 minutes. It was achieved with a relatively inexperienced side due to international call-ups. 'Every time we come to Leicester it is a tough game,' said Morris. 'We win games by the odd goal – it is 1-0s or 2-1s. 'We knew it was going to be tough physically and first half, although I felt we matched them physically it was very much a battle and we did not really get our passing game going. We were falling into a few traps they set as far as going man-for-man over the pitch, and I felt we had opportunities because of that to move some players out the way to get the ball into the front men a bit quicker. 'So we spoke about that at half-time and I am not even sure Leicester touched the ball before we scored our second goal at the start of the second half, so it was a great one to score. 'We will be looking at both goals we conceded as it was two set-pieces but when you are defending against 6ft 6in and 6ft 7in centre-halves it does get difficult. There are still things we could have done better in the build-up, in either not conceding the fouls or in the play that led to it.' Despite those two goals let in, Morris was delighted with the match overall and had words for the goalscorers as well as the team in general. 'I said to the players after the game that this has been a place that before where we have won it has set us up well for the rest of the season, because of the spirit and the character we have shown and we have certainly needed that. 'This is by far the toughest game we have played this year and I was delighted for Charlie Brown to get his great finish in the first half, coming back into the team having been with the Under-23s. 'Martell Taylor-Crossdale scored with a rare header and Tushaun Tyreece-Walters has come into the club and is looking like he wants to grab his chance with two hands, because his training has been great. 'I said to him about a month ago that if you carry on training like you are, there will be an opportunity for you soon and he came on in the last couple of games, did well, so I didn't have any hesitation in putting him on even though the game was so tight. He got the winner with a fantastic individual goal so I am delighted for him. 'The dressing room was buzzing, and that is what you want after your tough games.' Morris has been keeping an eye on the five Academy players currently away with England at the Under-17s World Cup in India, where they have won all three group games. 'I think the boys are performing okay and it is good to see Conor Gallagher get his first competitive games for England. I thought George McEachran was excellent in the first game as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi. They are doing fine and when you are watching those games you want them to do well and keep playing but you just hope there are no injuries. 'There are five of them out there who have been playing for our team and so to get this win at Leicester with that calibre of players away, that is a fantastic result.'
