Speaking exclusively to the club's official television channel, Drogba described the bond which has grown between him and his club, build-up over the years by a number of factors. 'The most important thing is the spirit we have created here,' he told Blues News, 'with John [Terry], Lampsy [Frank Lampard], Petr [Cech] and the others. 'Also to see last year that we were not far from being in another Champions League Final, and the quality of the team. Then of course there's the arrival of a new manager, who is used to success. It is a new challenge for him and a new challenge for us, and we need a new challenge.' Drogba did admit that times of frustration have left him considering a move from Chelsea in recent years, but his love for the Blues just wouldn't let him leave. While describing his reasons for signing the two-year extension, he also divulged why his decision to stay was never in doubt this summer. 'I told people before that I wanted to stay until the end of my contract with Chelsea, because I signed a contract and I wanted to respect it until the end,' explained Drogba. 'Of course I have been saying that I wanted to leave, but people can change their minds, and that was all because I was a bit frustrated. But when you have a love affair with your team, you can be upset, but you will always come back to it because it is your team. 'I have been here for five years and I love it here, it is that simple.' Now the challenge for Drogba is to help bring more trophies to west London, and being a competitive sportsman, he wants to cement his place further in the club's history sooner rather than later.
