The versatile Chelsea midfielder made his Les Bleus debut in the Euro 2008 qualifier and earned rave reviews for his all-action display. However, Domenech insists he was not surprised by the way Diarra played after watching him closely in the Premiership this season. Diarra has broken into the Chelsea side and established himself as a very useful option for Jose Mourinho over the last couple of months. "When I call young players I know what they can do, so I am not surprised," said Domenech. "Lassana has managed to make a name for himself at Chelsea despite his young age. He hasn't come from a club's reserve team to play for France. "He can both play as a full-back and a midfielder.
