Coach Brendan Rodgers said: “It was a good result considering we were 2-0 down and some of our better players were not playing.” The first goal was conceded just after the half hour. “We allowed their guy too much space in the box,” admitted Brendan. The second was scored just after the interval. “That was poor defending at the back post from a corner,” the coach explained. He changed things thereafter, bringing on Nano Ofori who can attack from right-back and changing to a midfield diamond with Fabio Ferreira at the front. Ferreira responded by pulling the first goal back, receiving well in the area and finishing clinically for his first youth team goal. Liam Bridcutt, who was now at the base of the diamond, equalised with 12 minutes to go, turning up in the area and slotting into the bottom corner. “The comeback showed the tremendous spirit we have in the group,” Brendan said.
