The new kit celebrates Chelsea's 100th anniversary, featuring a specially designed Centenary crest and gold detailing that marks this kit out as a very special piece of club history. The new kit will be worn by the squad during the Centenary season, 2005-2006. Using the theme of "100 Years in the Making" and taking inspiration from Chelsea's most famous moments and players through the years, UMBRO's designers have created a kit that upholds the traditions of the club, while looking forward to future success. The traditional royal blue of Chelsea, used since the club was established in 1905, is the dominant colour for the jersey and shorts. However, to mark this very special year in the club's history and to symbolise success, the new kit also contains gold colour detailing throughout. Starting with the gold of "100 Years Centenary 1905-2005" embroidery on the jersey, the theme continues with gold fabric inserts placed on the shoulders, hem and cuffs of the jersey, fine horizontal gold pin stripes integrated on the under arm and back panels, completed with golden UMBRO branding. The new jersey also carries a label detailing the kit's official life span and a golden holographic logo, guaranteeing the kit's authenticity. Using the latest fabric technology, UMBRO has created a kit to give Chelsea's players the highest levels of comfort and performance as they enter their Centenary season. The fabric of the jersey has been developed to mimic the feel of the players' skin, with 'Zonal Pods' placed in key hot spots around the upper body to help increase levels of ventilation. The use of hi-tech X-StaticR silver fibres helps to regulate body temperature and aid moisture transfer, ensuring players remain comfortable and cool in the heat of the game. To complete the look, the new Centenary jersey is complemented by the traditional colours of blue shorts with gold detail and white socks, giving the new kit a classic look that players and fans will be proud of.
