It turns out he will be joined by a flock of familiar faces in two weeks when he heads south for New Orleans. 上週Thomas還是唯一一個代表Celtics參加明星週的人 後來卻變成他會和一群熟悉的面孔一起一路向南去紐奧良 Brad Stevens and his assistants learned Friday night that they will be coaching the Eastern Conference All-Stars on Feb. 19 when they take the floor against the Steve Kerr-led Western Conference All-Stars. The coaching staffs of the top teams in each conference through Sunday’s games earn the privilege to coach at the All-Star Game. Tyronn Lue, whose Cleveland squad currently holds the top spot in the Eastern Conference, is ineligible to coach the contest since he did so last season. The result ensured that the Celtics would have the No. 2 mark in the East through Sunday. Boston’s coaching staff has helped lead the team to 32-18 record – its best mark through 50 games since the 2010-11 Celtics started their campaign 38-12. That also happened to be the last season that Boston’s staff coached the All-Star Game. This season’s squad, however, has a much different makeup than the 2010-11 Doc Rivers-led Celtics team. That particular unit was stocked with star talent in Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. Take into consideration the fact that he took the helm in Boston only three seasons ago when the organization was just beginning to rebuild. The All-Star recognition proves how fast Stevens' young team has developed. He says that is the sweetest part of the honor. “What’s nice about [earning the All-Star coaching spot] is there’s no politics in it,” said Stevens. “There’s no subjectivity; it’s what your team has accomplished. When he was acquired from Phoenix on Feb. 19, 2015, the Celtics had a 20-31 record and were ranked near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Two years later, the Celtics have completely flipped the switch. And that was proven Friday when their coaching staff received the nod to coach the All-Star Game. “For it to happen so quick, that says we're moving in the right direction and are taking steps forward,” said Thomas, who scored 38 points Friday night during Boston’s win over L.A. “I’m excited.
