Doc Rivers’ basic routine after the recent run of losses by the Celtics [team stats] has been to curse the team’s medical fates and praise its effort. Last night, however, the coach read from a different script after the Celts took a 105-91 slap in the face from the Washington Wizards at TD Banknorth Garden. You can’t have the swagger like you see a lot of the young guys with the swagger. At some point it has to be by demonstration of play. That’s the only way you gain confidence, and when you’re losing, all the little things - the tough plays - you have to make. It was like Eddie Jordan called a timeout and said, ‘OK, guys, enough. Go get this game.’ And they didn’t get it from running anything.
