http://0rz.net/cd13O Rookie Gomes makes most of his first start By Steve Bulpett/ Celtics Notebook Saturday, February 11, 2006 - Updated: 12:36 AM EST A little more than two weeks ago, Ryan Gomes was happy just to be getting a chance to put on a Celtics uniform. He still wasn’t slated to get much, if any, playing time, but after an extended stretch on the inactive list, he was pleased to be a figurative step closer to the court. Last night the rookie started against the Trail Blazers and had four points and a game-high nine rebounds in 35:29 in the Celtics’ 115-83 victory at TD Banknorth Garden. “This is way bigger than just dressing, I’ll tell you that,” Gomes said after injuries to Al Jefferson and Kendrick Perkins conspired to get him the opening nod. “It’s a big jump from not dressing to dressing to starting. But wherever I can fit in, I’ve got to take advantage of it. “It’s a big lesson. You’ve got to be ready at all times. But that’s what they tell you in training camp. You never know when your number’s going to be called. You’ve just got to be ready at any time.” Gomes was ready early, getting himself into the game with two rebound hoops in the first quarter and playing smart defense thereafter. “Any time you get a quick basket or an offensive rebound or a steal, that gets you up,” said Gomes. “It got me up a little bit, and I just wanted to keep attacking the glass and get more opportunities for us.” ============================================================================== His coach was impressed. “Ryan was great,” said Doc Rivers. “I thought his rebounding was phenomenal. I thought his defense was phenomenal.” Speaking earlier of Gomes, he said, “I think the better we become in the future, the better he’ll play. I think he’s a very good player on a very good team. I think he’ll be really good. He does a lot of the little things, and when you’re on a team that is not a great team, those things don’t show. I think he’s so solid all around.” (哎~~馬後炮...Doc就不能早點發現嗎?...現在用也不遲...多用用他吧) ============================================================================== Pierce in the pool Yes, Paul Pierce is looking forward to playing in the All-Star Game, but there’s also the matter of the Alonzo Mourning-Magic Johnson billiards tournament he won at last year’s event. He and his partner netted trips to the Dominican Republic and expensive watches for that “W.” “I look to defend my crown,” Pierce said, breaking into a wide smile. “ Ya’ll don’t know basketball’s secondary to me. My pool game . . . and I won the tennis tournament down at the Players Association meetings in the Bahamas . . . bowling. Ask these guys. My ping-pong is up. I’m telling you, man. What do you think I used to do when I couldn’t get on the court at the YMCA when I was a little kid and the big kids wouldn’t let the little kids get on the court? We used to go in the recreation room. (超臭屁的Pierce..竟然什麼運動都行..不虧是Power) “Y’all think I’m playing around and joking,” Pierce continued with a laugh. “I need to be on ESPN with this stuff I got.” When it was noted he was on ESPN yesterday - on a tape of the 1995 High School slam dunk competition, Pierce said, “That’s when I used to be able to jump, man." (哈哈哈...) ============================================================================== Jones jumps to it Rivers has quickly grown enamored of Dwayne Jones’ rebounding ability - especially after seeing him take in four in the last quarter last night. “He’s extremely athletic,” the coach said. “He’s a quick jumper, which is a Dennis Rodman trait.” The only Dennis Rodman trait? “Well, I don’t know,” Rivers said. “I’ll take the winning.” The coach expects Jones to be able to translate the talent from the NBDL to the NBA, saying, “I don’t think rebounding’s ever different in any league. I would say if you look historically over the great rebounders in college, they tend to be great rebounders in the pros. Rebounding is an art for the most part. The great ones know how to do it, and they do it wherever they’re at - at the park, in college, in high school, in the pros.” . . . Lee-Ann Martelle-Deas of Haverhill threw in an underhand 3-pointer off the glass at the end of the first quarter to win $7,777 in the Foxwoods Take A Shot contest. . . . (哇~~) As Rivers spoke in the hallway, he called out to Blazers assistant Monty Williams as he walked by. “I’m old, man,” Rivers said. “When guys walk by that I’ve coached are coaching, that ain’t a good sign.” ============================================================================== 花個1分鐘看看吧..一些大小事 --
