Thomas Beacon Journal sports writer POSTED: 07:48 p.m. EST, Mar 08, 2010 CLEVELAND: LeBron James tried to sneak onto the court to take practice shots Monday in preparation for the game against the San Antonio Spurs, Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. After getting the hopes up of assistant coaches, the Cavs faced their second game without its superstar leader as Brown sat James to rest him. This means that James, who rolled his ankle against the Detroit Pistons last Friday, will get a week to rest it, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Although the Cavs looked out of sync offensively against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, point guard Mo Williams believes they can pick things up. ''I think it's a long season and you're fortunate to have a guy like him play a lot of games and not miss any,'' he said. ''For him to go down a couple of games, we're a good enough team to withstand that until he comes back.'' Brown has good reason to rest James. In six of the last 10 games, he's averaged more than 40 minutes per game, and in one, he played 47 minutes.
