A good friend of mine lives in Taiwan and he is a diehard Cardinals fan. He is wondering if the Cardinals regularly scout the players there. For instance, Po-Jung Wang will be a free agent after this season, and I know the Dodgers,Phillies and Reds have scouted him. A:Grear question.I'll ask when I have a chance.They are quite active in scouting Japan now,of course.Once upon a time,they would send a scout for one trip a year to Japan.Now they regularly travel there.I just am not sure how much they are devoting to other East Asian countries,but it's a fascinating question.As is Brazil,the Bahamas,other areas like where teams have occasionally found hidden gems. --
