DeRosa, who played just three games with the Cardinals before injuring the wrist, was initially thought to be rejoining the Cardinals in Milwaukee tonight for the start of a three-game series. However, after an examination of the wrist on Monday, the team announced this afternoon that he will be moved to the disabled list, retroactive to July 1. Just yesterday DeRosa said, “I’d love to be able to contribute, but it’s out of my control right now.” In corresponding moves, the Cardinals have recalled infielder Brian Barden and outfielder Nick Stavinoha from Class AAA Memphis. The Cardinals optioned infielder Tyler Greene to Memphis on Monday. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse (right forearm flexor strain) is slated to make a rehab start tonight for Memphis. The team is hopeful Lohse will return to the Cardinals for this weekend’s series against the Chicago Cubs. --
