Reservations are required, as space is limited to five people per tour. The cost of the tour is $5.00 per person. The fee is waived for persons with special mobility restrictions and a companion. Golf cart tours depart from Visitor Information Services, located in Memorial Auditorium, and are offered daily at 1:00 p.m., except during the first week of classes, finals week, academic breaks, or in the event of poor weather or mechanical problems. This free one-hour tour is offered year-round, except during the first week of classes, finals week, and academic breaks. Reservations are required, as the tour size is limited. These one-hour tours are generally for groups of ten or more, and may, upon request, include areas of specific interest to the group. Bus tours are available to groups providing their own bus. Among the many highlights visible from the 250-foot high platform are the San Mateo and Dumbarton Bridges and Moffett Federal Air Field. A tour guide on the platform is available to answer questions. The Hoover Tower lobby houses the Herbert Hoover and Lou Henry Hoover exhibit rooms which feature memorabilia from the careers and lives of the thirty-first U.S. president and his wife, both of whom were Stanford alumni. The Observation Platform is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except during finals week, academic breaks, and the first week of classes. Admission fees to the Observation Platform are as follows: General Public: $2.00; Seniors/Children under 13: $1.00; Stanford Faculty/Staff/Students and family members: FREE Guests who reserve a special tour may purchase tickets to the Observation Platform at half price. --
