It has long been known that Wang wanted to return to the Nationals, who stuck by him after he missed almost three years with shoulder problems that date back to his years with the Yankees. Wang was productive in his return, going 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 11 starts, and he will likely be third in the rotation, behind right-handers Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann. Wang said in September that money would not be an issue when it came to re-signing with the Nationals. Manager Davey Johnson made it clear at the time that he wanted Wang back. "There is no doubt about it," Johnson said. "If I'm here, he could have my salary." Although he accomplished a lot this year, Wang wants to be even better next season. The deal is worth $4MM plus incentive clauses, and it will be official once Wang passes a physical. We heard yesterday from Wang's agent Alan Nero that the two sides had "conceptually" agreed to a new deal. Wang signed one-year contracts with Washington in each of the last two offseasons, and finally made his return to the majors in 2011 after missing the entire 2010 campaign while recovering from shoulder surgery. Wang posted a 4.04 ERA, a 1.92 K/BB rate and a 53.4% ground ball rate in 11 starts with the Nats last year.
