We have high hopes of being able to provide free full-board accommodation for the Junior teams. We also hope to be able to keep air fares to an absolute minimum so that your NBO would not have any major expenses in sending a team to this innovative, exciting and very important event. In addition, to facilitate matters for you, for this particular event, we will increase the age limit to 28 years instead of the normal 25 years, as is done with the World University Championships. We have received very few replies to our previous emails concerning this, and it is increasingly important to know how many NBOs are planning to send a team to this Junior Championship – if we do not have sufficient replies by June this year we may even be forced to cancel the event, which would be very bad for bridge as I am sure you will appreciate. Please email Christine Francin ([email protected]) and let us know as soon as you can whether it is your intention to send a team – obviously we do not need names or anything like that at this stage, just your agreement in principle that a team from your country will attend the Championships. We cannot stress strongly enough how important it is that Junior bridge is encouraged to ensure the development and continuation of our game. And this means that we rely on your Federation to support events like these and to send a team to Beijing.
