Four "veteran" junior players, who won gold medals in world competition in 2001 and bronze medals in 2003, have been selected as members of USA-1 and will compete in the 2005 World Youth Team Championship. The announcement, made by the United States Bridge Federation, names Joe Grue, John Hurd, John Kranyak and Joel Wooldridge to the team. Bob Rosen will be their non-playing captain. USA-I will be augmented with a third pair from the 2004 Junior Swiss Pairs, scheduled July 17 and 18 during the Summer NABC in the New York City. The Junior Swiss Pairs will also determine members of USA-II. Pairs placing first and second will become members of USA-II. If either the first- or second-place pair is augmented by USA-I, the third-place pair will be offered a place on USA-II. The team will then select an npc, and after consultation with the npc the team may augment with another pair from any pair participating in the event. Participants must have been born in 1979 or later, be citizens of the United States and be ACBL members in good standing. --
