Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that
the Cardinals have signed right-hander Jeff Suppan.
Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan likes a challenge, but we're not sure
Suppan can be saved at this point. The veteran right-hander was released by
the Brewers earlier this week after posting a 7.84 ERA over 13 relief
appearances and two starts. Of course, he rode the Cardinals' World Series
run to a disastrous four-year, $42 million contract with the Brew Crew in
December of 2006. Suppan was 44-26 with a 3.95 ERA with the Cardinals from
2004-2006.
