Braves sign Dominican pitching prospect 9:46 pm July 3, 2010, by David O'Brien The Braves added another promising pitching prospect to their stable of young arms by signing 16-year-old Dominican right-hander Mauricio Cabrera. The Boston Red Sox were among other teams that pursued Cabrera, who is the younger brother of Cubs Double-A pitching prospect Alberto Cabrera. Braves general manager Frank Wren confirmed the signing, but declined to comment on the amount of Cabrera’s signing bonus. Baseball America reported that Cabrera received a “high six-figure” bonus.
