Braves send eight to Minors camp Parr, Redmond and Marek among Spring Training cuts By Mark Bowman / MLB.com LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Right-handers James Parr, Todd Redmond and Steve Marek were among the eight players that the Braves sent to Minor League camp on Monday. Parr, Marek, Redmond and fellow right-handed hurler Luis Valdez were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. Left-handed pitchers Francisley Bueno and Mariano Gomez and catchers Phillip Britton and Matt Kennelly were re-assigned to Minor League camp. Parr, who tossed six scoreless innings during his first two career Major League starts in September, enjoyed a solid Grapefruit League season, allowing just one earned run in 7 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander's best outing this year came on Friday, when he recorded four strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings against the Marlins. Redmond, the Southern League's pitcher of the year in 2008, allowed three earned runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings this year. The 23-year-old right- hander is projected to begin this year with Parr in Gwinnett's starting rotation. Marek, who was obtained in the July trade that sent Mark Teixeira to the Angels, allowed three unearned runs in four Grapefruit League innings. The 25- year-old righty reliever also registered four strikeouts and issued two walks. Bueno was impressive while recording three strikeouts in the five scoreless innings he produced during the exhibition season.
