Sir Paul McCartney claims The Rolling Stones were quietly jealous of his band The Beatles, because all four members could sing. Speaking to the Radio Times (via Gigwise), Sir Paul explained how Keith Richards recently revealed how he envied the multi-talented Liverpool band. "The four of us were unusual," he said. "I talked to Keith Richards recently… well, a couple of years ago, and his take on it was: 'Man, you were lucky, you guys, you had four lead singers,' whereas the Rolling Stones only had one. "I could sing, John could sing, George could sing and Ringo did numbers that he could sing. So it wasn’t just the front man and the back-up band … We were an entity. Mick used to call us the Four-headed Monster. We would show up at places all dressed the same." It is true that all four Beatles members sang on their records, though it wouldn’t be unrealistic to say Ringo Starr was less competitive in this respect. But that doesn’t matter. After all, the band were very lucky to have him - even if he does say so himself. "Within Liverpool I was a lot more well known than them," Ringo recently told Live Magazine. "Rory And The Hurricanes were big shots in the city. We had suits. That was our claim to fame. "They were lucky to get me," he continued. "It wasn’t just that I was a big shot, I was a cool drummer."
