Still, according to multiple team sources familiar with the Dodgers’ thinking,
neither injury will have much impact on the team’s trade deadline strategy. The
sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not permitted to discu
ss the subject publicly.

Despite Smith’s prolonged absence, the Dodgers do not plan to pursue major-leag
ue catching depth and will continue to rely on Dalton Rushing for the bulk of th
e starts. Ohtani’s uncertainty hasn’t provided extra incentive to push for Det
roit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, who will be the top player available this deadline
— should the Tigers (who sit just 4 1/2 games out of a playoff spot in the mee
k American League) decide to make him available.

d the Dodgers. Similar to last year’s deadline, they’ll look to improve on the
margins but refrain from big splashes that could harm the club’s depth and pro
jected future. Bulking up their minor-league system, perhaps by trading away som
e of their outfield prospects, remains a priority. But the team’s most impactfu
l acquisitions might come internally.
對於棒球事務總裁Andrew Friedman和道奇而言，目前的策略依然維持不變。就像去年一樣
，他們將在季中交易大限前尋求一些能夠提升球隊戰力的補強，但不會進行可能損害球隊深
