Free agent Sean May to work out for Blazers Tuesday
A new possibility has surfaced in the Trail Blazers' pursuit of a free
agent forward: Sean May.
General manager Kevin Pritchard said the unrestricted free agent will
participate in a workout for the Blazers in Las Vegas Tuesday evening --
one of four May reportedly has scheduled this week. According to reports,
May also plans to work out for the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, the
Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday and the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
The Charlotte Bobcats elected not to make May a qualifying offer of $3.6
million earlier this offseason, which made him an unrestricted free agent.
The 6-foot-9 power forward, who was the No. 13 selection in the 2005 NBA
draft, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career -- he's played
in just 82 games, including 21 starts, over four seasons.
Two separate surgeries on his right knee limited him to 23 games as a
rookie and May missed the entire 2007-08 season after having microfracture
surgery on the same knee. Conditioning and fatigue issues, in addition
to knee tendinitis, troubled him last season. May's most productive season
came in 2006-07, when he averaged 11.9 points and 6.7 rebounds in 35 games.
