Blazers get a peek at Oden Posted by jfreeman June 20, 2007 18:20PM Greg Oden participated in his long awaited predraft workout for the Trail Blazers on Wednesday, undergoing what Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard called a "litany of tests." The workout lasted approximately an hour at the Blazers' practice facility in Tualatin -- only the final 20 minutes were open to the media -- as Pritchard, Blazers coaches, owner Paul Allen, scouts, management and some current players, watched. "One of the biggest things we wanted to do was really push this kid," Pritchard said. "We did and he responded very well. He's a high, high talent, but what really came out is that he's a really good person and really cares about how he did in the workout." The Blazers have the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft and the 7-foot freshman center from Ohio State is considered a franchise-changing future all-star. The consensus is that the Blazers will select either Oden or Texas freshman Kevin Durant, who is scheduled to work out for the Blazers later in the week. Oden, who was not completely pleased with his play Wednesday, said he could have performed better and was forced to take several breaks during the solo workout. He arrived in Portland Tuesday afternoon and plans to leave Thursday for a meeting with Seattle, which has the No. 2 pick in the June 28 draft. Oden said he will not work out for the Sonics. "It went all right," Oden said. "I have to get used to being up in the Northwest. It's a different air up here and I'm still catching my breath. I think it was pretty decent. And I promise it can be a whole lot better." Oden is expected to undergo a physical and other medical tests from Blazers doctors on Wednesday and the team is expected to continue interviews through the duration of his trip. But Pritchard and Blazers coach Nate McMillan seemed impressed with what they had seen so far. "We liked what we saw out there," Pritchard said. "Greg is a great kid.
