Assuming that the officials and the table officials are doing their job correctly, one player must have entered or remained on the court illegally. The officials must therefore order one player to be removed from the court immediately and charge a technical foul against the coach of that team (recorded as B). The coach is responsible for ensuring that a substitution is applied correctly and that the substituted player leaves the court immediately after the substitution. Example: While the game is being played it is discovered that team A has more than five players playing on the court. (a)At the time of the discovery, team B (with five players) is in control of the ball. (b)At the time of the discovery, team A (with more than five players) is in control of the ball.
