ARATS has sent a group to Taiwan on Monday, including the leader, the highest level ranking personnel responsible on Taiwan relations. One of the 4 main issues covers the expansions of the cross-strait flights. Current cross-strait charter flight limits to Friday - Monday, 36 weekly flights only. With the newly-expanded deal, this is set to expanded to DAILY, up to 108 weekly flights. Destinations to/from China will also be expanded from 5 to 21. In addition, a new flight route is being agreed, which flights into Central and Northern China will be able to fly North directly, instead of flying South via Hong Kong then turn into China. This will save approximately up to 60-90 minutes for flights to Shanghai and Beijing. The new destinations includes: Chengdu Chongqing Hangzhou Dalian Guilin Shenzhen Wuhan Fuzhou Qingdao Changsha Haikou Kunming Xian Shenyang Tianjin Zhengzhou Both sides said that this is neither "International" nor "Domestic" service, but likely to be called Cross-Strait flight (Note as of this time no confirmed translation is available) This also covers Cargo charter service as well for Taipei Taoyuan and Kaohsiung in Taiwan; Shanghai Pu Dong and Guangzhou in China.
