They invested a third-round pick and $500,000 to sign him. Since entering pro ball, the velocity readings have increased and this year he was sitting 92-94 mph with his fastball, with which he does a good job of throwing strikes. Meisner works downhill with good plane, as you’d expect of a man his size,and has a solid-average curveball and some feel for the changeup. Meisner has a competitive bent and scouts have made comparisons to a young Brandon McCarthy with a No. 4 starter profile. "Casey Meisner was my sleeper pitching prospect for the Mets this year, and has indeed had a breakout season in Savannah.
