Ohka slated for return to Brewers
The Brewers expect to add another weapon to the starting rotation Tuesday.
Right-hander Tomo Ohka, out since May 1 with a right rotator cuff injury,
will be activated from the disabled list in time to start against Jamey
Wright and the Giants at AT&T Park. The team will have to make a
corresponding move to free a 25-man roster spot for Ohka.
"I don't have any pain or tightness," Ohka said. "Nothing. I pitched three
games in the Minor Leagues. I'm ready."
Ohka was 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in his first six starts before the injury. The
Brewers have struggled at times to hold together the starting rotation in the
wake of injuries to Ohka and Ben Sheets (shoulder). Ohka still has two months
to help the Brewers make a run in the National League Central and to make a
statement heading into free agency this winter.
The Brewers are coming off consecutive double-digit scoring performances,
including Monday's 10-1 win over the Giants. They had not scored 10 or more
runs in back-to-back games since Aug. 24-25, 2003.
