Yankees, Matsui reach agreement on four-year deal
The New York Yankees announced today that they have reached an agreement with
left fielder Hideki Matsui on a four-year contract extension through the 2009
season.
洋基在今天宣布他們和左外野手松井秀喜達成協議，將合約延長四年到2009年球季。
In 2005, Matsui established single-season career highs in batting average
(.305), hits (192), doubles (45) and runs batted in (116). According to the
Elias Sports Bureau, he is one of only two players-who debuted since 1940-to
have at least 100 RBI in each of his first three seasons in the Majors (also
Albert Pujols, who did it in his first five, 2001-'05). With 330, he has the
second highest RBI total of any Yankee over his first three seasons in the
Major Leagues, behind only Joe DiMaggio (432, 1936-'38).

His career-high 45 doubles in 2005 tied Babe Ruth (1923) and Bob Meusel
(1928) for the ninth-highest single-season total in franchise history.

Matsui has played in 1,737 consecutive professional games (1,250 with Yomiuri
Giants, 487 with Yankees). With 487 consecutive games played to start his
Major-League career, he surpassed Ernie Banks (424) for the all-time record
of consecutive games played to begin a career (Banks broke into the Majors
with a streak of 424 games played for the Chicago Cubs from 1953-'56). His
streak of 487 consecutive games played with the Yankees is the longest streak
by any Yankee since Lou Gehrig's 2,130-game streak and is also the American
League record for most games played to begin a Major-League career,
surpassing Al Simmons' 394 from 1924-'26.
Matsui已經連續1737場出賽(美日通算，包括1250場的讀賣巨人以及487場洋基)。在這
487場大聯盟比賽中，他超越了Ernie Banks的424場成為自大聯盟初登場以來最長的
