After starting the season as a third-choice keeper, the confident young Pole has been thrust into the spotlight due to injuries to both Lukasz Fabianski and Manuel Almunia. Since making his Premier League debut at Old Trafford in December, Szczesny has produced performances that defy his tender years and Lehmann, for one, is impressed. The German stopper was still at the Club when a fresh-faced Szczesny joined in 2007 to see first-hand the talent he possesses. Lehmann believes the 20-year-old has the ability to become one of the best. “He has got everything he needs apart from the experience and the maturity, so he needs to work hard,” said Lehmann. “He is very talented.
