Pompey went 2-0 ahead against the run of play but Arsenal roared back with two quick goals and Wenger was happy with his side's display. "It was a great performance. This team has great character and great quality, but sometimes you play so many games that it is difficult to get into a stride again," he told Sky Sports. "We were a bit unlucky as well because we created the first chances. Then after they went 2-0 up we needed exceptional quality. "I would like to give the team a lot of credit because even if we are disappointed not to have won the game they have shown to me exceptional quality." Emanuel Adebayor stepped off the bench to inspire Arsenal's fightback but Wenger insists he has no regrets about leaving him out of the starting XI. "I knew that it was his fifth game in 12 days and that some time he would be punished for that, even if it does mean we concede two goals if he does not play," said Wenger. "Adebayor was exceptional when he came on but I think the team would have responded anyway." Ljungberg was replaced by Theo Walcott after just five minutes and Wenger confirmed: "It is his hamstring and unfortunately we will lose Freddie for the Christmas period." Arsenal remain unbeaten at The Emirates Stadium but have drawn five of their home games this season and Wenger would like to see his side get into the winning habit.
