The Brazilian star has yet to discover the form that saw him score 50 goals in two seasons for Seville, a record that secured him a big money move to Real Madrid. Baptista, nicknamed 'The Beast', admits he thought he would find it easier than it was to adapt to life in the Premiership and insists he has found it hard to get up to speed with the English game. Baptista told The Daily Telegraph: "I did not think it would be this difficult. I thought I would come here and be able to start helping my new team-mates sooner. "I thought I would adapt quicker to the English game. Getting fitter has helped but it is still hard. The pace is incredibly fast. Sometimes you don't even have time to think." Baptista started only his second game of the season on Wednesday night against Wigan and admitted that he found it hard to get into the game. "It was a difficult game. The pitch wasn't very good and they played an aerial game," he said. The former Madrid man revealed that Gilberto Silva has helped him settle into life in London but admits the language barrier has been difficult to over-come. He said: "He gives me a lot of advice, tells me how things work over here. Brazilians always help each other like that. "I go out into London because it is very important to have a life outside of football but I haven't been to the theatre yet because it is difficult to understand when they speak so fast." Baptista has stated his desire to be a success in the Premiership but warns that he does not want to be simply a substitute at Arsenal. "I don't just want to be used now and again, to remain on the bench. If that were to happen things would get more complicated. But there is still a long time to go to see how things turn out.
