or to get closer to someone, start a conversation.
There may be an interesting person in your midst
who could wind up being very important to you
as either a friend or a romantic partner.
This person may be shy,
or just not open about him/herself.
So start slow.
Don't bring up any deep or heavy topics; just start with small talk.
Even if you're only talking about the weather,
it will open up a dialogue and create an air of familiarity,
which can lead to something far more meaningful eventually.
