The laboratory is located in a newly renovated space of the Department of Biochemistry and has access to core resources for bioimaging, cancer research and structural biology. The Structural Biology core facility has recently acquired Thermo Scientific™ Glacios™ Cryo-Transmission Electron Microscope equipped with Falcon 4 Direct Electron Detector. We seek to recruit a post-doctoral fellow with an interest in utilizing high-resolution single particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM) to study structural aspects of mitochondrial transcription and replication. Applicants should have experience in structural biology (preferably cryoEM) and molecular biology. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing cloning, gene expression and purification of proteins. Perform biochemical and biophysical characterization of protein complexes. Perform crystallization trials and prepare grids. Collect and analyze diffraction and cryoEM data, build a model and refine a structure. Qualifications Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics or equivalent: only candidates that have first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals will be considered.
