The Stingele Lab will open at the Gene Center of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) in fall 2017 and is looking for highly motivated Master Students/Graduate Students/Postdocs Maintaining genome stability is an integral task for every form of life. Cells use sophisticated mechanisms to detect, signal and repair DNA damage. Failure to restore the native structure and sequence of the DNA contributes to ageing and cancer. We have recently discovered a novel DNA repair pathway, which targets highly toxic DNA-protein crosslinks (Stingele et al., Mol. Cell 2016, Stingele et al., Cell 2014). This pathway is crucial for tumor suppression and is an attractive prospective drug target for anti-cancer therapy (Stingele et al., Nat. Rev. Mol. Cell Biol. 2017). We combine systematic genome-wide screening (CRISPR/Cas9) with advanced imaging and mechanistic biochemical/biophysical approaches. To support and complement our efforts, we are seeking one Master student, one PhD student and one Postdoc to join our team. The lab will be housed in the brand-new Research Center for Molecular Biosystems (BioSysM) at the life sciences campus Grosshadern/Martinsried, with access to excellent instrumentation and facilities. Downtown Munich can be reached by public transport within 20 minutes. The PhD and Postdoc positions provide a competitive salary based on the German public sector pay scale (TV-L).
