Reports earlier this week had already suggested that Fiorentina officials had met the Congo-born player to discuss terms over a three-year agreement, with an option of a further two years. “If we can agree on a fee of ￡2m to ￡2.5m there will be three winners - Fiorentina, Vanden Borre and Anderlecht,” said Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck. Vanden Borre, who has been with the Belgian club since the age of eight, recently attracted the interest of several European outfits, including Juventus, Inter, Bayern Munich, Tottenham, and Levante. The versatile defender was allegedly sighted in Florence on Wednesday, fuelling speculation that he might be in town to complete his medical.
