The 19-year-old, who is currently on loan with Derby County, had been paired with a move at the end of the season when his deal with Arsenal was set to expire and had made no secret of the fact that he would favour a return to Italy. Numerous clubs including Napoli, Milan, Inter and Torino were interested in the Under-21 international's services, but Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino had recently revealed that he was close to reaching an agreement with the youngster.
